Gear
Overview
[Last Updated as of: 19th January 2024 by iboomiboom]
Gear can drop with varying Tiers, Rarity, Set Effect, Stats & Bonus Attributes.
Basic rules regarding Gear:
- Higher Tier Gear > Lower Tier Gear, no exceptions.
- Higher Rarity Gear have better Stat & Attribute scaling within the same Tier.
- Gear base stats are uniform. The only difference are the Bonus Attributes & Set Effects.
All Personas can equip up to 6 gears. Gears are basically stat sticks, and can give Personas a huge stat boost when fully geared up.
The stat boost can be further increased by leveling up the Gear, which will be discussed later below. Don’t underestimate the Gear stat bonus, especially when fully kitted out & upgraded.
Finally, there are 6 Types of Gear – Earring, Ring, Breastplate, Gauntlet (Boots), Greaves (Gloves) & Pendant. Obviously you can’t equip Boots in your Earring slot.
Doesn’t explain how my Emu has Gauntlets equipped, but I’ll let it slide.
Upgrading (Boosting) Gears
You can either use “Ancient” items (The green cubes) to level up Gears, or sacrifice unequipped Gears to level them up. You’re going to get quite a lot of Gear while playing the game, so don’t be afraid to sacrifice weaker and unwanted Gear.
Upgraded Gear can be used as fodder for other gear down the line, so go ahead and level them up as you see fit.
All Gears are obtained at +0, and can be upgraded to a max of +15. Each level improves upon the base stats, but what you’re really after are the Bonus Attributes.
The Support Ring you see above is an un-upgraded, Tier 1 Ring with 2 Bonus Attributes locked (green rectangle).
The 2 Bonus Attributes can be unlocked by upgrading the ring to +3 & +6. All Gears come with 4 Bonus Attributes, although the amount of locked Bonus Attributes depends on the Gear rarity.
Gear Stats & Attribute increase as you increase the Gear level. You really don’t need to reach +15 with all your Gear, as you will very quickly get more and better Gear by progressing in the campaign & Trials. Unlocking all the Bonus Attributes should be more than sufficient for the time being, until you begin optimising for endgame.
Gear Base Stats
I have made it a point to distinguish between Gear Stat & Attributes so far. The following sections will explain why in detail.
Quick refresher before we continue: Gear can drop with varying Tiers, Rarity, Set Effect, Stats & Bonus Attributes. All Gears of the same Tier & Rarity have the exact same base stats.
This is where Gear Tier & Rarity comes into play. Higher-tier gear will always outclass lower-tier gear, higher Rarity gear have better base stats and Attribute scaling (explained in next section).
All Gear increases HP and one other basic stat as follows.
Earring | ATK |
Ring | AVD |
Gauntlets (Gloves) | HIT |
Greaves (Boots) | SPD |
Pendant | CRT |
Breastplate | DEF |
Gear Bonus Attributes
So you’ve probably noticed in the previous sections that the Bonus Attributes are different. Welcome to gacha hell for your Gear.
Keep the following rules for Bonus Attribute in mind. It will make things easier to understand.
- All Gear have their own Bonus Attribute Table specific to their type (Earring, Breastplate, etc.). The Bonus Attributes are standard regardless of Tier, Rarity & Set Effect.
- Tier & Rarity affects initial range of the Attributes. Better Gear have a better range.
- There are a total of 9 Bonus Attributes available per Gear type. All [Standard Gear] except [Legendary Gear] will draw 4 random Bonus Attribute and initial values.
- The Bonus Attribute cannot be the same as the base stat of the Gear. For example, Earrings cannot roll for ATK.
- You cannot have two of the same Bonus Attribute on a single piece of Gear.
- Note that ATK & ATK% are not the same.
Higher rarity Gear have higher ranges for their Bonus Attributes. However, it is possible for a lower rarity Gear to have better Attributes simply due to RNG.
*[Legendary Gear] has fixed MAX!! Bonus Attributes and is only available as Tier 4 (T4).
Gear Set Effects
All Gear come as part of a “Set”, and having multiple Gears of the same Set equipped will confer a bonus.
You can mix and match sets so you have 4 ATK pieces & 2 DEF pieces equipped for a bonus of 8% ATK & 3% DEF.
There are several Set Types available.
